Exfo's new blog - Hollow-core fiber: power and precision for critical networks
Unlike conventional fiber, which has a solid glass core, this new generation of fiber features a central channel filled with gas or air. Light propagates through this medium, which has a much lower refractive index than glass. Specialized cladding structures, often made of glass with periodic patterns, guide the optical signal through the channel and prevent it from escaping.
Exfo's solution includes OTDR analysis software, part of a Hollow-Core Fiber OTDR Test Kit and additional solutions like
