🇺🇸 Political SEO: Is Google True About a Specific Agenda?

When it comes to politics, Google is not just a neutral intermediary. The search engine clearly leans in a certain direction and actively filters content.

If you work with SEO in political or near-political topics, it’s better to know how this affects rankings, especially against the backdrop of Trump’s inauguration.

Is Google Politically Impartial?

Of course not. 2024 and the US elections are a clear example of this. Remember how Trump was ignored by the search results? It was as if the search engine was afraid to even mention his name.

Why does Google do this?

Under all this, Google supposedly cares about the reliability of information and tries to protect against disinformation. Especially in matters of health, finance, and politics — those very YMYL queries.

In 2018, Google released the Medic Update, an update designed to suppress sites with questionable content on the topic of medicine and finance. It seems that since 2020, the same logic has spread to politics.

In 2024, internal Google documents leaked, which confirmed that the search engine really does process queries related to COVID and elections in a special way - through the IsCovidAuthority and IsElectionAuthority factors.

So whose agenda does Google support?

The top political queries are consistently:

🟡The New York Times;
🟡The Guardian;
🟡CNN;
🟡Washington Post.

These are publications with liberal views and support for Democrats.

❌ But right-wing and conservative media - Breitbart, The Federalist, The Blaze - have dropped significantly in search results since 2020.

In total, we have:

🟡Google can lower the positions of resources with the “wrong” agenda;
🟡In YMYL topics, priority goes to large and authoritative media;
🟡Even if the content is 100% correct, one controversial wording is enough to get under the filters.

𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀 offers a comprehensive suite of creative tools aimed at streamlining the video creation process. Users can access tabs for inspiration and drafts, utilize a higher-quality camera, and employ advanced editing features. Additionally, the app provides insightful analytics on video performance, including metrics such as follower-to-non-follower ratios and tracking how often users skip content.

The application is currently available for iOS devices, with an Android version expected to follow soon. By introducing 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝘀, Meta aims to empower creators with advanced tools, fostering more engaging and polished content on Instagram.
