This article is showing some very interesting statistics regarding new development sales in 2016 ( spoiler alert- steep decline!) . It also shows that inventory is very high in new development, might be a good time to find a desperate developer willing to break even!

Updated mortgage statistics published today: Effective rate for "linked mortgages " is now ~6% for 20 to 30 year loans , completing a 2% increase in the past 18 months . Non-linked loans have increased by a similar amount over the same period.

Lessons to be learned:
1. Take the Fixed Rate! Even if it means refinancing to a slightly higher mortgage payment , with the higher rates the likelihood of a significant prepayment penalty is very very small .
2. Don't link your loan to inflation!
3. This is , most likely, just the beginning. Rates are moving up , act accordingly
