Epic Branding
24/03/2021
What makes this night so different from all others?
Not what you think.
The Passover Seder. It’s arguably the first multimedia, virtual reality performance in the history of mankind.
Humor us for a moment. You’ve got the Haggadah, the written story. The Seder plate, with salt water representing the tears of the slaves. The charoset, which (yes) is delicious but actually meant to look like concrete used to build the pyramids. The reenactment of the exodus, opening the door for Elijah the virtual prophet. How about the search for the afikoman? Ancient escape room, anyone?
Today, we’ve got VR gaming. But imagine the seder 500, 200, heck, even 100 years ago. It’s a pretty incredible example of the way that narratives are – and have always been – driven by basic human senses: sight, sound, melody, taste, smell, memory, movement.
Next time you’re thinking about how to brand your company, imagine creating a story so powerful, it lasts for thousands of years.
Happy Passover and happy branding!
