馃 Palmo is a desktop robot designed to help teenagers cope with mobile phone distractions during study time. Unlike other solutions that block access to the phone, Palmo encourages the development of self-regulation skills by promoting empathy towards it.
Palmo was created by a group of BA students in the milab 2025.

We鈥檙e proud to see our students turning everyday challenges into meaningful, research-driven design 馃檹馃徏

Excited to share another published work presented at the CHI 2024 conference in Hawaii from our BA milab team!
BA students from three faculties - interactive communication, computer science and psychology, with mentoring from Noa Morg, Ofir Sadka, Sagi Mamane and Hadas Erel, examined how technology can encourage collaborative cooking between parents and children.

In the paper we presented the design and preliminary evaluation of a Tangible User Interface
(TUI). The TUI is designed as a cooking recipe smart box and a pair of wristbands. The box is designed to showcase one recipe at a time. After choosing a recipe and placing it onto the box, the parent and the child wear their wristband and start to cook. When they complete each step their pair the wristbands, intriguing feedback from the box.

We鈥檙e proud to present this research to the international academic community and share the great potential of leveraging TUI for parent-child interaction in the kitchen. The TUI encouraged collaboration in an equal, teamwork nature, and promoted high engagement in the cooking process and a feeling of togetherness.
