Dogs for the Disabled
Mobility & Task Assistance Dogs, to Therapy Dogs, Facility Dogs & community-based projects.
Our triplet girls are learning to manoeuvre around the puppy box. Their sense of smell and hearing is getting stronger by the day and tomorrow their eyes will open and they will see the world for the first time. This is a critical time of development and the puppies are handled daily, sounds are played while they are feeding, different objects are introduced into their environment daily all in an effort to prepare them for their future roles as assistance dogs. People often ask why don’t we use rescue dogs and it’s two things really often they come from traumatic situations (the body holds the score) and moms are often in poor shape health wise due to neglect and this can have a knock on impact on the dogs long term health. Assistance dogs by nature of the work they need to do, require resilience and physical health to carry out their roles. Sadly Ireland remains the puppy farm capital of Europe 🥲
