Our senior first team travel to top of the table Torro United AFC this evening. Kick off is 7.45 pm for this NEFL Division 1 fixture.

Robinstown made the long journey to Newtown Celtic for their first league game of the season. It took Robinstown a while to settle and after 6 mins they found themselves 2 goals down. Robinstown however did come more into the game and Aisling scored a penalty in the 13th minute to give them some hope. Robinstown pushed infront with a brace of goals from Isabel on the 23rd and 30th minutes but the lead didn't last long with Newtown converting a corner 5 mins before half time. But the first half had still some more to offer with Hollie scoring a spectacular free kick from distance just before half time.
With the score 3-4 to Robinstown at half time the 2nd half turned out to be a lively affair with chances at both ends. Aishling done well to break free on numerous occasions but some good saves by the Newtown keeper kept them in the game. Likewise Hollie kept Robinstown in the game with some fine saves. So no more goals in the 2nd half and Robinstown held out to win. It was a good team effort from Robinstown with everyone digging deep in the hot sunshine to claim their first points in the league. Standout players for Robinstown were Sarah, Rebecca, Ashley, Isabel and Aisling. A big thanks to Newtown for playing their part in an entertaining match played with the right spirit and good luck to them for the season ahead. Hard luck to the girls today on a very hot day and where as we only had 11 players no one got a break.
5-1 was an unfair scoreline as the match was in the balance for much of the game until a couple of late screamers gave the score an unfair gloss. Kentstown went 1-0 up early in the 1st half and had slightly dominated up until then but the balance shifted and we started to dominate and came close to equalising a couple of times . Alannah came close to scoring with 2 inswinging corners that caused all sorts of problems in the Kentstown goalmouth before she scored with her third effort to make it 1-1. Kentstown then promptly scored to make it 2-1 with a great long range shot. We then took over again and were unlucky not to score with shots getting blocked and the ball just not falling our way. The second half was very equal before Kentstown scored to make it 3-1 and kill the game. Rachel made a number of great saves and blocks before Kentstown scored 2 late long range screamers. The girls can all be extremely proud of the effort they put in with Alannah unlucky not to score more and Ellie putting her effort over the bar at the end of the game.

Our men’s senior first team begin their Fitzsimon's Cup campaign this evening as we host Kentstown Rovers FC in round two of the competition.

Robinstown FC 2 – 4 Albion Rovers FC

Robinstown started the stronger once again at home on Sunday morning against Albion Rovers. They were rewarded for the quick start scoring twice in the first half hour of the game through two fine Ciaran Fitzsimons goals, the first from close range assisted by Aidan Hilliard and the second assisted by Cory McCarthy from the edge of the box. The home side could have had more from their dominance but just before half time, Albion got one back from the penalty spot.

Robinstown started the second strongly half but two quick goals from the away side gave them the lead and they added a fourth late on.

Our men’s senior first team are at home this Sunday morning as we host Albion Rovers FC in the NEFL Division 1. The kick-off is 11.30 am in Robinstown.

Our men’s senior third team are travel to Ballyhaise FC in the NEFL Division 4. The kick-off is 12 pm.

All support is welcome for the lads.
