Each of our Aran sweaters is hand-knit in pure new wool sourced from Dripsey in Cork, using traditional aran stitches, in a traditional raglan sleeve design. Please do not mistake for Handloomed! - these garments can take two to three weeks each to produce ! This wool is rich in natural lanolin that has purposefully not been washed out, to provide the finished garment with certain wind proofing and soft rain proofing properties. (To prolong the life span of your sweater, it should be handwashed using baby shampoo or dissolved soap flakes. It can also be machine washed on the most delicate cycle of your washing machine using a short spin. Do not tumble dry, bleach, or dry in direct sunlight.) As with all heavy pure new wool garments, the sweater will ‘drop’ a little with wear – so measurements given for each garment must be viewed as a ‘minimum’ measurement that will lengthen with wear and cumulative washings. (The model is 6ft 4”). Also, these sweaters have not been ‘pressed’ in order to flatten them, or pull them into a standard shape. Aran knitting is a tradition in our family. Each sweater we produce is made with care and with pride, and many items knit by and for grandparents are now being worn for everyday winter wear by grandchildren, who view these garments as ‘retro style’, or old classics. A handknit aran isn’t just a sweater, or a fashion statement, it’s a generational hug. Handmade Earrings.
