Whatever happened to homes that had character?

Have we engineered out character for easier to manufacture products, that at times are void of texture and colour?

Have we fallen victim to an over reliance on symmetry and forgot that asymmetry is pleasing too?

If you feel it would be a regret to not explore outside the norms of today, then it would be good to have a chat to see if we would make a good team in delivering a home for you that shows your personality, that is welcoming to all, that has a presence and is warm and bright in all the right places.

When does the architect stop designing on a project?

Well the answer to that is they don’t stop until the project is complete and the client occupied the building.

It’s true that a major proportion of the design is figured out in concept design, but the design will be continuously refined through out the following stages from planning drawings, to detailed construction drawings to actually picking tiles and selecting paint colours.

And when we say design we also mean coordinate. If coordination design is not being carried out then the end outcome will certainly not meet what was originally envisaged, leaving you with something you didn’t want.

It’s only after going through the construction process for yourself are you aware of all the decisions to be made and pitfalls that can cause issues.

The Architect is not just for initial design/planning but is essential for detailing and construction so you get exactly what you want.

A New Design for an existing cottage

We proposed a number of environmental conscious measures to reduce the buildings carbon impact. For example, we specified a shingle type material for the facade which is made of recycled window frames and recycled doors. ♻️

Did you know that 50% of Irelands total waste sent to land fill is made up of construction and demolition material.

If your thinking of building, whether it is a renovation or a new build and you would like to have a modern building that will stand the test of time but you would also like to achieve that with as small of a carbon impact as possible then get in contact with us and let us know your ambitions and we will guide you from there. 😊🐝🌳♻️
