Lilliputs provides a play- based curriculum and recognises that play is a child’s way of learning and of coming to terms with the world around them. The curriculum involves a range of activities and learning approaches – but the child’s right to learn through play is at the centre of the curriculum. The play-based curriculum allows children space to explore and think in a creative way, as they have opportunities to set up real life scenarios where they practice, share and learn skills they will need in later life. Lilliputs adheres to Aistear the curriculum framework for children from birth to 6 years produced by The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. Aistear’s aim is to help every child to grow and develop as a competent and confident learners through the contexts of play and supported by caring, learning relationships with adults and peers across Aistear’s four themes; Well-being, Identity and Belonging, Communicating and Exploring and Thinking.
