Clare Island is delighted to be included in today's funding announcement by Minister Dara Calleary and the Department of Rural and Community Development for Ireland's offshore islands.
This welcome investment will support a number of vital infrastructure projects for Clare Island, including the relocation of the island helipad and a structural assessment of Clare Island Pier. We are also delighted to see significant investment in Roonagh Harbour, our lifeline to the mainland, which is essential to maintaining safe, reliable access for our island community and visitors alike.
Today's announcement also includes a core funding allocation for Comhdháil Oileáin na hÉireann, whose tireless work on behalf of Ireland's offshore island communities continues to ensure that island voices are heard and that the unique needs of our islands remain firmly on the national agenda.
These investments represent a strong commitment to the future of Clare Island and Ireland's offshore islands. They will help strengthen essential infrastructure, improve connectivity, and support the long-term sustainability of island life.
We extend our sincere thanks to Minister Dara Calleary, the Department of Rural and Community Development, Mayo County Council, and everyone involved in securing and supporting this funding. Your continued commitment to Clare Island and all of Ireland's offshore islands is greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing these important projects progress.

A football blitz with a difference! 💚❤️

When bus journeys are swapped for ferry crossings to our very own Clare Island, a little magic happens. ✨

We were delighted to welcome the U10s from Achill and Louisburgh for a very special day of football.
The day was about so much more than the game. It was about new friendships, strengthening connections between communities, and giving young players the opportunity to experience football from an early age. 🏐

With only a small number of children living on the island, opportunities like these are truly invaluable.
They help spark a love for football, build confidence, create lifelong memories, and inspire the next generation to pull on the Clare Island strip with pride. 🥹
💛💚

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. Days like this remind us that while our numbers may be small, our community spirit is mighty. 💪

The future is certainly bright for Clare Island GAA. 🌟

A special thank you to Edwin McGreal & the Western People for featuring this heartwarming story.
