Today I turned 46, and somewhere on the drive between Cobh and Youghal, my partner and I started talking about birthdays.

Here's the truth. I've never actually had a birthday party.

Not as a child. Not as an adult.

I think it's a bit by chance and a bit by choice. I'm a real introvert and the way I recharge is by spending time on my own or with the people closest to me. Somehow the years just passed without me ever wanting to organise a party.

I might have to change that for my 50th. I'll think about it 😉

Today's version of celebrating suited me perfectly though - breakfast in Dungarvan, sketching in Cobh, painting in Youghal, with a bit of rain in between. It wasn't glamorous, but it was exactly the kind of day that leaves me feeling full.
