The New UK-EU Deal ๐Ÿค

At the first EU-UK Summit, major steps were taken to rebuild and strengthen trade ties. The commitments reached mark a turning point in the bilateral relationship, with tangible benefits for businesses, consumers, and industry on both sides.

๐Ÿ”น A Common SPS Area is in development to ease the movement of agri-food goods between the European Union and Great Britain. This includes additional benefits for Northern Ireland, which retains dual market access.

๐Ÿ”น Tariff-free trade in steel will continue, supporting long-term industrial cooperation.

๐Ÿ”น A fisheries agreement grants reciprocal access to waters until 2038, providing long-term certainty for the sector.

๐Ÿ”น The UK may join the EU electricity market, which would improve energy stability, price predictability, and support investment in North Sea renewables.

๐Ÿ”น Work is underway to link the UK and EU Emissions Trading Systems. This would help deliver on shared climate goals and maintain a level playing field for industry.

๐Ÿ”น Cooperation on trade in services, business mobility, and competition enforcement is also being strengthened.

This renewed agenda reflects a pragmatic, forward-looking approach and send a clear signal to businesses that cooperation is back on the table.
