While many associate Halloween with American traditions, its origins trace back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which is still celebrated in Ireland today with an annual bank holiday.
The pagan religious celebration would welcome the harvest at the end of summer, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off wandering spirits. These days, Oíche Shamhna/Halloween, is celebrated very much the same as in the States, with costumes, festivities, and trick-or-treating.
We hope our Irish team enjoyed a peaceful day off on Monday, and that our global partners enjoy a day filled with more treats than tricks!
