đź’«Earlier this year we invited Limerick residents aged 60+ to join us for a very special programme, Making Music in Limerick: The Music Network Teaching Residency, delivered in partnership with Lime Tree Theatre | Belltable and Limerick Arts Office.
The programme welcomed 15 learners back to music, bringing them together to rediscover their love of playing while sharing many laughs over cups of coffee as they made music.
🎻 With expert tuition from renowned musicians Derek Hickey (accordion), Tara Breen (fiddle) and Tommy Hayes (bodhrán), participants enjoyed free lessons, access to instruments and the opportunity to connect through music.
✨ Who knows what the future holds for these returning musicians!

Today, Music Network welcomes the announcement by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport, confirming funding of €1,000,000 for The Music Capital Scheme 2026.
The scheme comprises five distinct awards and provides vital funding for the purchase of musical instruments and related equipment.
Awards 1, 2 and 3, which support non-professional performing groups and individual professional musicians, are open for applications today.
