I have enjoyed extensive travel allowing me to sample many dishes to recreate at home. I lived in London, where my son was born, and then lived in Naples Italy for 10 years. For the last 2 years there I ran a business called International Flavours, catering for 60 Americans every three weeks, with different themed nights, such as Thai, Indian, Mexican, Lebanese and of course an Irish night for St
Patricks day! On returning to Ireland with a young son in January 2002, I completed the 3 month certificate course at Ballymaloe Cookery school, finishing highly commended. I stayed on at the cookery school teaching until August 2003, when I moved back to Dublin and took up the position of Appliance Specialist in Houseworks, Dublin, the home of Siematic kitchens. This position involved advising clients of their appliance needs, specializing in Gaggenau, Neff, Siemens and Miele amongst others. I did regular cookery demonstrations, in their showrooms in Dublin, Belfast and Cork to highlight features of the combination steam oven and induction hobs. In fact, the appliance business became a large part of the business and many people getting kitchens elsewhere bought their appliances directly from me. I became showroom manager and enjoyed a successful career, even having a regular ad on RTE radio as ‘the’ appliance specialist. This was a very successful campaign bringing many customers into the showrooms, but then as things took a turn, houseworks had to scale back and concentrate on the core of business which is kitchens. However, I continue to do regular cookery demonstrations in houseworks, with Gaggenau, Siemens and Thermomix. Thank you for visiting my page.
