30 years of opening hearts and homes 🏡

As we celebrate Shared Lives Week, we’re proud to launch with the story of the Mullan family, marking 30 years of making a difference through our Families Matter Shared Lives Service✨.

For over three decades, the Mullan's have opened their home and their lives, supporting people to grow in confidence, build independence, and feel a true sense of belonging. Their journey reflects what Shared Lives is all about; ordinary people doing something truly extraordinary🥰.

Shared Lives offers adults with a learning disability, autism or acquired brain injury the opportunity to live with, or be supported by, another family or individual. Whether it’s long-term care, short breaks or day support, it’s built on relationships, trust, and shared everyday moments💛.

Our Shared Lives Carers are people who have time, compassion, and sometimes space in their homes, but above all, a willingness to make a difference in someone’s life.

✨ Because sometimes, the most meaningful support doesn’t come from a service, it comes from being part of a home.

This week, we’ll be sharing more stories that highlight the life-changing impact of Shared Lives, and how you could be part of it.

🌊Making Waves for Inclusion in Dundalk!

We’re delighted to present a Positive Futures Welcome Award to Aura Dundalk Leisure Centre for creating such a warm, supportive and inclusive environment for people with an intellectual disability, acquired brain injury and autism.

Nominated by Aimee and the people she supports, Michelle and Ann Marie through our Mo Shaol Home Share and Short Breaks Service, Aura has made weekly swimming sessions something truly special 🏊‍♀️.

From day one, staff at Aura have gone above and beyond, ensuring everyone feels welcome, supported and empowered. And the impact? Michelle and Ann Marie now look forward to swimming every week and have made fantastic progress.

👏 Huge congratulations to the entire team at Aura Dundalk for living and breathing inclusion every day.

Creating inclusive spaces in our communities makes all the difference, and together, we’re building brighter futures.
