Dad’s side, and my Auntie Katie and Gran Catherine on my mothers’, were all talented home sewers and knitters, making everything from toys, to quilts, to clothes not only for myself, my sister and also our dolls. To say these skills are in my blood would be an understatement. I’ve been knitting since I was a teenager, and learnt many sewing skills during my secondary school years, in Home Economics classes. My mum developed these skills but other life journeys took over and my sewing machine was tucked away until recently. It has only been in the last 4 years that I’ve taken up sewing with real enthusiasm, making gifts for my friends for Christmas and birthdays. To my delight it’s my true place of contentment, with my bedroom encompassing my crafter’s corner. Knitting on the other hand has always taken pride of place in the sitting room, watching T.V! I found myself drawn to natural fibers, loving everything about the way natural yarns look, and feel to the touch. Knitting has always been my way of relaxing, keep away stress at bay, learning to be creative but, ultimately knitting keeps me happy and content. Friends and family have always loved my knitted gifts, and have encouraged me to take it from being a hobby, into taking the steps necessary to turning myself into a homemade craft business. Being part of the Facebook community allows me to do this from the comfort of my home. Facebook means that the world is at my doorstep and I am so grateful for the platform it has given me. I pride myself on my quality and workmanship. I use mostly natural fabrics and wool in my creations. I hope you enjoy my sewed and knitted creations as much as I’ve enjoy making them.
