Moya has been a shinning light since the moment she walked into my life, when I stepped into Leo’s tavern at fifteen to play my first clubeo I had no idea this woman would influence my wee life and become such a huge part of who I am today.

Moya ran a night called clubeo for young people around the area of, it gave young us a place to get up and sing our own songs which wasn’t a very common thing at home, if you played music it was usually trad and their wasn’t much influence for any other music in Gaoth dobhair. Moya embraced us to be ourselves gave us all a space to play in front of an audience, She always encouraged us to play our own songs she made everyone feel so welcome and seen, I will always be grateful for that at such young age.

My friendship with Moya was very special from the moment we met right up till the end, I owe her the world for encouraging me when I had no faith in myself. Her words carried me to where I am today and it’s only the beginning of my music career so no matter what happens I will always be grateful for Máire Ní Bhraonáin who was an angel to walk this earth, a true star and not just for her angelic voice but for the love that shone so strongly for her pure heart. ❣️
