This week’s food news is doing that thing where half of Ireland is opening something lovely and the other half is making us emotionally attached to places we may or may not have been to enough.
There’s a new wine bar in Clontarf, a new deli in the IFSC, a new Carved in Charlemont Square, a new brunch spot in Phibsborough, and crisp sambos in Hynes, which feels like pub legislation finally catching up with common sense.
Elsewhere, Kai x Rare, Beag’s supper club, Bettystown House dinners, Suertudo’s chef menu and Notions turning one are giving the diary plenty to worry about.
Rei Momo, Ruchii, and 14A, however, are this week’s heartbreak.
Slide through and start making plans with the confidence of someone who has not checked their bank account.
Therapy is expensive. Pasta is cheaper.
on Talbot Street is doing big bowls of pasta without all the unnecessary fuss.
I kept it simple with tagliatelle, aglio e olio and Parmesan, and sometimes that’s all you need to feel like life might be grand again.
Garlic levels were dangerous, pasta was bang on, and the price made sense.
Another one for Budget Baddies.

A Bank Holiday week has no business asking us to make lunch decisions...
Thankfully, €5 lunch deal is back with a deadly assist, and Crispy Chilli Chicken Meal is going for a fiver from June 1st to 5th 🍛 It is usually priced at €10.99, but this week is available for €5 between 11am and 3pm at participating Camile locations.
Crispy, chilli, saucy, and much better than pretending you’re “back in the routine” after the long weekend.
