Katie-George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal won their second gold medal of Tokyo 2020 during the treacherous 92.4km road race in brutal conditions today
An amazing feat of human endurance and Dunlevy had these inspirational words during her euphoric interview after the race
"I struggled at school, I found school really hard," she admitted. "I was diagnosed at 11 – I would have liked to have been able to say to my younger self then that everything is going to be OK – great things can happen.
"Just believe in yourself and there are things you can do, and that is what I would tell someone young with sight issues at home watching this."
A great example of overcoming adversity and becoming your best self !

Brilliant success over the weekend from team Ireland with medals for cycling duo Katie George Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal who broke a world record in their semi final only to have it beaten in the final to put them in silver medal spot. Amazing achievement 🥈
Jason Smith, "the fastest paralympian on the planet" added to his incredible record of winning T13 100 metre gold at 4 consecutive olympic finals ! The 34 year old beat his Algerian rival by just .01 of a second demonstrating the finest of fine lines it can take to achieve ultimate success 🥇
A really interesting quote we found was from one of our cycling coaches who pointed out that regardless of medals or positions - every single rider delivered a PB performance. Unbelievable to have a whole team go out and perform their best at the same time.

The very best of luck to team Ireland as the Paralympic games get underway in Tokyo
29 Athletes have qualified for the Games in 27 slots representing Ireland in 9 sports.
Hopefully they can bring us home some medals but regardless of that, it's great to see us being represented on the world stage by athletes who've had to find a way to overcome more adversity than most of the population will ever dream of facing 💪
