My name is Robbie Corr and the aim of this cover profile to give you an insight into the work I have been doing and how my life experience and knowledge of the disability and community sector has grown over the last fifteen years. I had worked full time in Prosper Fingal from 2002, starting as a care assistant in the vocational training center to eventually becoming the company’s sports coordinato
r. In 2012, my position as Sports coordinator at Prosper Fingal was made redundant by the HSE due to cut backs. I was offered to be redeployed within the Prosper Fingal organization but the timing of the job change was leading to many personal difficulties, so I accepted a redundancy package. Prosper Fingal were reluctant for me to leave the company altogether, so they also seized an opportunity to try a new type of service delivery. They offered me the opportunity to continue the sports program as an outside contractor to the company. I accepted their offer and the new redundancy terms and set up Rocsports. The contract was for 32 hours a month for 42 weeks a year, with extra hours for events also. The whole experience has been a real life lesson and I don’t regret it for a moment. But in December of 2016, I made the decision to return to full time employment and was offered a Job with Praxis care in Ardee which then led me to be offered a job in St Micheal's House were I am currently now working in local day center. Disability and Sports are my two main passions and it is these areas that I will be looking to improve things from a political stand point.
