Amazing open mic session at the Goat, tonight! Thanks Ed, Robert and everyone!
Fun night! Thanks to everyone who came out!
Hey y’all, my guest appearance on Oliver Steck’s squirrel show has been postponed until 5/19 on account of the rain. And I have to confess, the rain is all my fault. I go camping for the first time in ages and it rains like this for the first time in ages. Coincidence? I think not! But, my Wednesday (4/22) Walburg Songwriter’s gig at the Walburg German Restaurant and Biergarten is inside and will go on despite my weather shenanigan’s!
Lois Jenison, north Austin music super supporter, kindly asked me for a bio to help her get the word about about my gig this Wednesday at the Walburg Songwriter’s Supper Session at the Walburg German Restaurant, 4/22 at 7pm. I wrote this on the spot. What do you think? “David True is an Austin-based singer songwriter. David’s music crosses many genres and is inspired by love, family, travel and humor. For example, in David’s song ‘Kookaburra’, he tells us a story about the crazy experiences that happened to his wife in Australia to the rhythm of his then 3 year old kiddo dancing. His song, ‘I Don’t Wanna Go’, is about two friends who had a great divorce going but it didn’t work out — they got remarried. ‘Desert Dreams’ was written one night because his elder kiddo talked him into writing the song instead of going to bed at bedtime.
David has been writing songs since childhood, has visited over 40 countries and can say thank you in over 20 languages. French is his second language and he’s recorded two of his bi-lingual French/English songs. One of these, ‘Chaque Moment’, features Toni Price, Ephraim Owens, Derek O’Brien and Casper Rawls on the recording. He’s had the honor of performing and recording with some of Austin’s finest musicians: Warren Hood, Marshall Hood, Matt Giles, David Grissom, Linda Gonzalez, Paul Teneyuque, Robb Kidd, and Cindy Cashdollar to name a few.
David’s looking forward to another mini-tour in Europe this summer where he’ll play a friend’s wedding in Cornwall, England and team up with the French artist, Phorin, who translated ‘Clay Pigeons’ by Blaze Foley, into French, for a couple gigs in France.
