The Irish hare is one of our most beloved native animals. They’re protected under wildlife laws, but that doesn’t stop these beautiful creatures from being trapped, released into a field and terrorised by dogs for “sport”.
This barbaric practice has already been banned up north and in almost every country in the EU. Hare coursing came to Ireland through our colonial past, but even the Brits have put an end to it in the UK. Polling shows that majority of people in Ireland, in both rural and urban communities, already support a ban on har coursing. It's high time our politicians catch up and ban it here.
Next week our TD's have the chance to ban it when voting on a bill calling for an end to this horrible blood sport.

Welcome home Pico!
Throughout this World Cup, Ricardo "Pico" Lopes has given a huge boost to people all over Ireland.
From his amazing story of making it to the world cup to his incredible performances taking on Spain, Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and finally Argentina.
In a tournament that Ireland did not qualify for, Pico has given people all over Ireland something to cheer for and made us all extremely proud.
Pico himself has been a brilliant ambassador for Irish football and has spoken out in support of the campaign to stop Ireland playing Israel.
Pico's personal journey has inspired us all.
