We released close to 20 birds today. Feral pigeons, wood pigeons, mallards, rooks, hooded crows and a magpie and one heron. These days are always good for the soul.
Volunteer Sarah gets a solid 8.9 out of 10 for this release video. You can actually see the birds, you can see them fly. Minus points as she didnt coordinate them to fly together....I dont make the rules for the marking system 🤷‍♀️😂.
Alot of these animals came in as were orphaned, hit by cars, attacked by cats and all are now back home for a second chance at life.

Be safe little friends. 🥰

A few weeks ago we received these chough chicks. This was the first time we hand reared these birds at the rescue. And it was....pure....hardship 😂😂😂😂. My god uncooperative is not the term. Absolute determination to reject every single form of nutrition is more the term. They are very sensitive little creatures and so I was the only one caring for them as they hate change. 😂
They are now thriving and almost self feeding. They met their stubborn match when they met me.
As you can see they have coloured rings, this is part of a bigger project to get more information on the species and their distribution. So when birders spot the ring in the wild we get a better understanding of the species. You will have seen some of my posts where we have gotten info of gulls and herons released in previous years from the rescue with rings like this.
When choughs get older they get a gorgeous red beak and red legs. Such amazing creatures. 🥰
