In the 1960's Athy Boxing Club was one of the busiest clubs in Ireland. Due to unforeseen circumstances the club closed in the early 70's. Then 20 years later a committee decided to review the club and St. Michael's Boxing Club was formed. The club has been apart of Athy community for many years.
