Late night meet with a review.
Kevin and I have a late night meet and Image the honor to audition and review Cypherus Audio Modified Sony MDR-CD900ST Heavy Bass.
As many knows, Sony MDR-CD900ST standard is one of the most respected reference headphone in the market. It's accuracy of sound reproduction is considered one of the best. Unfortunately, it produces realistic and true to real sound bass, meaning it doesn't have what people called enjoyable bass.
This Cypherus Audio Modified Sony MDR-CD900ST Heavy Bass is different and one of a kind, I think world-wide also. It delivers what I would say one of the most lovable bass in the market. I has the impact, the details layering and extension of bass only found in US$2000 headphone I have heard.
I tested it's separation and bass using Greenday's Give Me Novacaine (one of the most challenging song for bass and separation), and this modified headphone pass with flying color and addictively. The song's 24 bit 192 kHz recording from HDTracks is so detailed that even my own Cypherus Audio Modified Ultrasone HFI450 found it hard to keep up, but CD900ST Heavy Bass reproduced the sound realistically and with such addictive bass that I cannot let it go repeating the same song over 3 times. The bass extension didn't leak out to other frequencies, the complexity of sound maintained in details and slow-fast-slow-fast pace of the song becomes very enjoyable. Bass guitar clearly reproduced without disappearing to the impact of the drum. Acoustic guitar extensions shines. Vocal clearly heard with distortion.
BB King and Eric Clapton's When Your Heart Beats Like a Hammer is the other song to test CD900ST Heavy Bass Audiophile and Acoustic response. And it is also an impressive listening experience like a life show in a club. CD900ST acoustic accuracy is unbelievable and it's Heavy Bass modification clearly a winner.
Despacito 24 bit WAV sounded like a party in my ears. The beats came alive and Spanish acoustic character shines bright with clean vocal.
To give a better imagining of the sound, for those who own or tried CD900ST, all the mid and high frequencies are maintained. So all Audiophile and Acoustic songs are well played and enjoyable. The bass is on another level. The best way to describe it is you can compare the bass to Audeze LCD 3 bass with deeper resolution and more impactful bass. It is not at all a boomy bass nor dominant. The bass is part of the whole sound, making it the more enjoyable. Sound separation is so good that all the details are accurately reproduce in enjoyable, not overly analytical manner. Of course, this is currently one of a kind headphone, would for those who wants it, please contact [email protected] or visit www.cypherusaudio.com.
This Cypherus Audio Modified Sony MDR-CD900ST Heavy Bass is a treat and a must owned. Currently, there is only 1 unit available due to the custom request. But knowing the popularity of CD900ST, I think it won't be long Cypherus Audio will get some more requests soon
Congratulations to Kevin for what I considered the best valued modified headphone I have ever heard, I am clearly jealous.
