The Algorithm Likes What Humans Like
There’s a common belief that the algorithm has its own taste.
That we have to guess what it wants. But according to Meta for Creators, Facebook’s algorithm simply follows human behavior. It doesn’t choose content. It amplifies what people respond to.
I only truly understood this when I stopped writing with the intention to “win.”
And started writing with the intention to show up.
Content that humans enjoy is usually simple: easy to understand, non-judgmental, and honest in tone. People stop because they feel recognized—not because they’re promised results. They read because they feel accompanied—not because they’re being forced to learn.
From my experience, the content that lasts the longest isn’t the one with the neatest structure, but the one with the most human voice. There are pauses. There’s doubt. There’s an admission that we’re still learning too.
Facebook reads these signals through watch time, natural comments, and the habit of people coming back. There’s no special button for “good content.” There’s only consistent human response.
That’s why chasing the algorithm often feels exhausting.
Because the algorithm doesn’t need to be chased. It only needs to be reflected.
If people feel comfortable, the algorithm follows.
If people stay, distribution continues.
FB Pro reminded me of one important thing:
before thinking about the system, think about the person.
So here’s the question:
When you read your own content, do you feel invited into a conversation—or taught a lesson?
