Announcement
The Budapest Short Film Festival, which has been held every autumn since 2005, is closing its doors. The organizers have issued the following brief announcement to their partners and the members of the press:
THE END OF THE MOVIE (2005–2025)
“By 21, there’s no need to draw cards anymore, at least not worth it, and we believed that and won’t do it, instead we’ll „go ahead south towards freedom.” We would like to thank our supporters for the opportunity, all our colleagues for the many happy years we spent together, and for the countless great short films and festivals that we built from zero together with a lot of hard work. Let the new generation take over, we eagerly await their youthful enthusiasm in the face of the challenges of a new film world order transformed by AI. The Gombolyag Foundation will continue its wide-ranging work, but the BuSho International Short Film Festival is now retiring, and we hope that it will remain a great memory for many people who visited us once or more. We wish Hungarian short films all the best and every success!” Tamás Gábeli, founder, festival director, and jury coordinator for 20 years, Wolfgang Leis: „BuSho managed to make a lot of people happier - which made us happier too!”
