Metrum Ensemble

as works of contemporary composers. The ensemble made its debut in the spring of 2012 with a unique concert series entitled Central European Portraits. The programs featured works of Hungarian, Slovak and Czech composers; performed by musicians from the three Central European countries. The program highlighted the artistic goal of the ensemble, which remains focused on the exploration and interpretation of Central and Eastern European musical heritage and contemporary art. Central European Portraits was recorded by the Hungarian Radio; a compilation is to be released on CD. The long-term aim of the ensemble is to create new links through the promotion of artistic cooperation within the Central European region and to enhance solidarity and mutual appreciation of each other’s cultures. The Qaartsiluni Ensemble strives for artistic autonomy, constantly seeking connections to cultural establishments and the broad spectrum of cultural life. We believe in building a community and a creative musical environment to educate an audience that is responsive to historical values, and yet is willing to join us in our quest to explore the unknown present. qaartsiluni: alaszkai eszkimó kifejezés, össszetartást, reményt, valami nagy kitörésre való várakozást jelent. A Qaartsiluni Ensemble 2012-es trafóbeli bemutatkozását követően rövid idő alatt a magyar zenei élet egyik meghatározó együttesévé vált. Köszönheti ezt annak, hogy magyar és külföldi tagjai, vendégei többnyire markáns szólisták, akik képességeiket hajlandók közös munkák szolgálatába állítani. Nem különben pedig hiánypótló zenei koncepciójának, amely a közép-európai tradíciót ma élő alkotók munkásságának fényében értelmezi újra. Repertoárjában így az élő és klasszikus mesterek egymással karöltve szerepelnek, s műveiket az együttes mai szemmel, füllel igyekszik koncertjein élővé varázsolni.
