Embrace the darkness as we confront the trivialities of existence with ferocious soundscapes." Biography of the Band "Trivan"
Formation and Early Days:
Trivan was envisioned and formed by Vanja Šantak and Ivan Bertović along with their longtime school friend on drums in 2018. Although the band's early momentum seemed promising, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic brought all plans and progress
to a temporary halt. This unexpected period of inactivity led the band members to reflect deeply on their musical direction and aspirations. Post-Pandemic Reformation:
Following the pandemic, Vanja introduced his school friend, Tomislav Žiljak, previously the vocalist for Darkendome, as the new lead vocalist. Since the original drummer decided to dedicate himself to his family and professional career, Žiljak recommended his former bandmate Robert Vlašić, who had played drums alongside him in Darkendome. With Vlašić on board, the band regained momentum and stability. To further enrich their sound, achieve a fuller, heavier tone, and allow Vanja greater freedom to focus on lead guitar segments, the band welcomed Marin Buljan as the rhythm guitarist in 2025. Marin’s addition provided depth and atmospheric texture to the group's evolving soundscape, solidifying the band's lineup and direction. Musical Direction and Philosophy:
With a clearly defined lineup, Trivan began to intensify its efforts in creating music that reflects their core values and thematic preoccupations. Their music explores themes of existential crises, human suffering, and spiritual defiance through the lens of extreme metal. The band places a strong emphasis on complex lyrical content and technically demanding arrangements, aiming to create musical pieces that not only evoke emotional responses but also stimulate intellectual and philosophical debate. Projects and Aspirations:
In the coming years, Trivan plans to expand its influence within the metal scene, with ambitions to make their music heard beyond local borders. They plan to release an album that will consolidate their vision and artistic expression, incorporating themes of struggle, transcendence, and inner transformation. Additionally, the band is focused on creating a strong connection with fans through live performances, social media, and interactive platforms, where they can directly communicate and share their experiences. Long-Term Vision:
In the long term, Trivan aims to become a recognizable symbol in extreme metal, not only through their music but also through their impact on the genre's development. They strive to be a band that not only meets genre conventions but also redefines them, bringing new depth and sophistication to extreme metal. With each new project, Trivan sets high standards in artistic performance and authentic expression, aiming to leave a lasting impact on the music scene and their listeners. EXPLANATION OF THE NAME:
The name "Trivan" for a band not only sounds intriguing but carries a multi-layered philosophy that reflects the foundational ideas of the black metal genre. This name derives from combining the words "trivial" and "vanquish," creating a powerful symbolism about the struggle against superficiality and the pursuit of deeper meaning. Trivial:
The term "trivial" portrays the superficiality and banality of modern life, reflecting a critical view of a society often preoccupied with inconsequential matters. In the context of black metal music, this word resonates with existential emptiness and nihilism, expressing a profound skepticism towards societal norms and materialism. Through this aspect, "Trivan" explores feelings of isolation and rejection, using music as a medium to express deep and often dark emotional states. Vanquish:
In contrast to "trivial," "vanquish" symbolizes the defeat of the inconsequential, transcendence, and the obliteration of triviality. This element of the name implies the band's aggressive determination to overcome superficiality and uncover authentic values of life. "Vanquish" also symbolizes the struggle against internal and external constraints, which aligns with the spirit of black metal music that often explores themes of conflict, struggle, and ultimate victory. By combining these concepts, "Trivan" represents a metaphorical journey from superficiality to depth, from despair to victory. The band's name serves as a continuous reminder of their mission to challenge societal norms and explore existential themes through their music and lyrics. TRIVANISM:
Trivanism is a profoundly intriguing spiritual philosophy, inspired by elements of introspection, spiritual quest, and black metal music. At the heart of this philosophy lies the concept of "Trivan," a mythical place ruled by enigmatic black fairies. These fairies personify the strength and independence of women in love and spiritual journey, where their love is invaluable and impervious to external influences. The band "Trivan," leading the way in Trivanism, plays black metal music that conveys deep emotional dimensions and a spiritual quest. Their music can be interpreted as a journey through the dark sides of the soul, seeking profound pleasures. The performances of this band evoke admiration and mystique, creating an atmosphere that encourages introspection and connection with nature. Trivanism encourages individuals to explore their inner depths, find their own truth and happiness, and create their own world of imagination, joy, and enduring love. The band "Trivan" serves as a musical expression of this deep spiritual quest, creating a powerful symbiosis between introspection, spirituality, and black metal music that inspires and provokes thought. In addition, Trivanism is founded on the following principles:
In a world where obedience is praised as virtue and doubt is condemned as sin, we stand as guides for those who refuse silence. We do not worship darkness, but seek the truth it reveals. The bearer of light symbolizes not evil but the courage to question, doubt, and pursue knowledge. The one who fell did not fall into evil – but into misunderstanding. Their transgression was curiosity, and their punishment – eternal condemnation by an order that demands silence. If seeking truth is heresy, then our stance is sacred rebellion. If saying “I will not serve” is sin, then that defiance is our anthem. Established systems often promise enlightenment – but only if you do not question. Doubt. Be your own thinker. "Hell" is where questions are forbidden. Here, doubt becomes wisdom. Darkness is not the end – it is the beginning of self-awareness. Without darkness, there is no recognition of light. Without falling, there is no growth. Without the bearer of questions, there would be no self-discovery. Our Symbols:
Black heart: passion and introspective courage
Key: access to personal truth
Spiral: continuous self-growth
Black fae: guardian of inner authenticity
Moon: illumination for those who explore shadows
Snake: symbolizes transformation, wisdom, and renewal through shedding old beliefs and embracing deeper truths
Woman: Strength, Freedom, and Sacredness
We reject societal and ideological structures that historically turned women into property, symbols of sin, or objects of subjugation. Throughout history, women have been oppressed and silenced by various traditions and belief systems. We assert:
A woman is not property. A woman is not sin. A woman is a force of nature and a source of life. Sexual freedom belongs to everyone, but always through mutual consent.
“Do not make sexual advances unless clearly welcomed.”
This is not rebellion; this is respect. We value consent and equality. Here, the woman is not weak – she is the black fae, guardian of the flame of truth. If you've been taught that independent thinking is wrong – then you belong here. Do not fear darkness – within it shines the truth you've been discouraged from seeking. For the bearer of questions is not humanity's adversary. They are the voice whispering: "Be free." Nature is sacred and must be respected and preserved. Forests, mountains, and wild landscapes are considered temples for spiritual contemplation. Trivanism is open to individuals seeking a deeper spiritual experience, but also those who appreciate the art and culture associated with black metal music. What is Trivan – The Spiritual Core of Our Music ? Trivan is not a city, not a mountain, not a castle. It is an inner place, invisible to the eye, but unmistakably real to anyone brave enough to look within. Trivan is a mythical dimension a spiritual state of being. It is the heart of our philosophy, and the sacred fire beneath our music. It represents:
A profound inner journey
Independence
Introspective purification
Trivan is ruled by black fairies, ancient beings who dwell in silence. And in that silence, you do not pray, you listen. You do not ask , you face. It is a spiritual space of silence, darkness, and truth. It is where a person finds themselves when all the noise of the world fades,
when there are no more masks, no more lies. Just you, alone, face to face with yourself. It is that moment when you sit in darkness, look back at everything you’ve done,
everything you haven’t,
everything you are
and realize: there’s no more hiding. In Trivan, you reflect on what you were,
what you are,
and what you must become. It’s where the soul breaks and reforges. Where pain becomes fuel. Where darkness gives birth to resolve. And where the ultimate question arises:
“Am I worthy of my own fire?”
In Trivan, illusions fall away. It is a place of solitude, reflection, and transformation not a shrine to gods, but an altar of the self. A place where you forge a vow, not to external powers, but to your own inner law. That is why we say:
"In the silence of Trivan, we allege." We are not making a pledge to society, religion, or ideology. We are pledging to our own truth, to the spiritual code of Trivan. Trivan exists in every human being —
but only a few have the courage to enter. And even fewer returns, changed, purified. This is the symbolic home of our music. A place where pain becomes strength. Where discipline becomes freedom. And where every note carries not just sound, but conviction. Trivan is a spiritual dimension of resistance, renewal, and self-realization. It is the fire beneath every word, every riff, and every step we take. And in a world that often forgets what it means to feel — Trivan remembers.
