UWI-CARICOM Project
The UWI-CARICOM Project seeks to inform the CARICOM decision making process, Caribbean leaders and tertiary institutions, of the range of issues and initiatives which inform Caribbean growth and development.
"It is undeniable that the sine qua non of a healthy nation includes health care, housing and education that can lead to employment with tolerable wages, as well as freedom from the fear of oppression by state authorities or by criminal elements among civilians. But none of this will make sense without the guarantees of cultural certitude shared by the mass of the population." (Rex N: Selected Speeches, 2006)
The UWI-CARICOM Project salutes the life of Professor Rex Nettleford: "Flags and anthems, national symbols bringing recognition and status to the country in the world's family of nations, are relatively easy to come by. Freedom, the unlocking of the citizen's creative potential within a nation, is something altogether different and much more difficult to attain." (Rex N: Selected Speeches, 2006)
