🐍🏏 MAYERS BACKS CARIBBEAN CORE TO DRIVE DESERT VIPERS' GSL CHALLENGE

West Indies all-rounder Kyle Mayers believes the Desert Vipers' Caribbean contingent could play a key role when the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League bowls off in July.

Mayers, who will represent the Vipers alongside Khary Pierre, Ramon Simmonds and rising Barbadian star Zachary Carter, said local knowledge of Guyanese conditions could prove crucial in the short tournament, where teams will have little time to adjust. He also described himself as the "powerplay man," highlighting his strengths with both bat and ball in the opening stages of a match.

The experienced all-rounder was full of praise for Pierre's ability to control the powerplay, labelled Simmonds a wicket-taking "golden arm," and tipped 19-year-old Carter to become a major force in regional cricket.

The Desert Vipers squad for the tournament also includes international stars Chris Green, Daryl Mitchell, Kyle Jamieson and Shadab Khan as they target success in Guyana.
