Korean-style hot pot made by putting meat, mushroom, seafood, seasoning, etc., in a stew pot, adding broth, and boiling it. It is similar to the category of Korean stews called jjigae, with the main difference being that jjigae are generally made with only a single main ingredient, and named after that ingredient (such as kimchi jjigae or sundubu jjigae), while jeongol usually contain a variety of main ingredients. An additional difference is that jeongol (like gujeolpan) was originally a dish for upper-class Koreans and members of the royal court, while jjigae was a simpler dish for commoners.⁣

Korean soft tofu stew (sundubu jjigae) 🥘⁣

The dish is made with freshly curdled soft tofu, vegetables, optional seafood, and gochujang (chili paste) or gochu garu (chili powder). The dish is assembled and cooked directly in the serving vessel, which is traditionally made of thick, robust porcelain, but can also be ground out of solid stone. A raw egg can be put in the jjigae just before serving, and the dish is delivered while bubbling vigorously. It is typically eaten with a bowl of cooked white rice and several banchan (side dishes).⁣

Spicy Korean Squid 🦑⁣

Ojingeo bokkeum (오징어 볶음) is a spicy stir-fried squid dish. Ojingeo is squid, and bokkeum refers to the dishes that are stir-fried. Koreans love squid, and this spicy dish is highly popular at home and restaurants. For this dish, the squid is cut into bite-sized pieces and stir-fried in a slightly sweet gochujang (Korean red chili pepper paste) based sauce along with some vegetables. The red spicy sauce adds a burst of spicy flavor to the crisp vegetables and tender squid!⁣

Bulgolgi jeongol (hot pot)⁣ 🥘

Bulgogi Jeongol / Bulgogi Jungol (불고기 전골) is a Korean hot pot dish consisting of deliciously marinated bulgogi, soup stock, glass noodles and various vegetables.⁣
But you might also hear it being called bulgogi stew, bulgogi soup or bulgogi hot pot. ⁣
