LoFi concept - records

This is our "Automatic Pilot".

A custom control system developed in our lab, built specifically around our DIY vinyl cutting lathe and workflow - it is designed to automate the repetition mechanical stages of a record cut.

During a cut, it can handle track separation spacing, move into the lead-out groove when the side ends, lift the cutterhead and bring the cutting mechanism back to its starting point.

The system combines analog and digital electronics, Arduino code, 3d printed parts and a lot of mechanical handmade development - all brought together in a working prototype.

A small step closer to a more precise and reliable vinyl cutting workflow.
