The Academic Year Closing Gala 2026 of the Medical Degree English Program took place at the historic Athens University History Museum in Plaka, bringing together students, faculty members, administrative staff and friends of the program.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Professor Nikolaos Arkadopoulos, Dean of the NKUA School of Medicine and Director of the Program, followed by greetings from Professor Konstantinos Tsioufis, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine, Professor Sofia Papaioannou, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, International Relations and Extroversion, Professor Efstathios Efstathopoulos, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, and Ms. Androniki Logo, Administrative Coordinator of the Medical Degree English Program.

In his address, Professor Arkadopoulos shared a message that resonated deeply with our community. Reflecting on the Greek word “Aristeia” (Excellence), he noted its close connection to “Armonia” (Harmony), reminding students that true success is not measured only by achievements, but also by the ability to live a balanced and meaningful life. Excellence, he emphasized, should always go hand in hand with harmony.

As we reflected on another year of academic achievements, clinical training, research activities, and personal growth, the evening offered a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bonds of our diverse international community.

We were also honored to welcome distinguished supporters of the program, including our scholarship sponsors Mr. Theodoros Karoutzos, CEO of Affidea Greece, and Ms. Angeliki Karava, Business Director of ISLE Academy

The evening concluded with the participation of more than 120 students, faculty members, and administrative staff, celebrating not only the end of an academic year but also the friendships, collaborations, and experiences that make the Medical Degree English Program a truly unique educational journey.

We thank everyone who joined us and look forward to welcoming our community again in the next academic year.
