Men For Equality
The HeForShe–The Gambia consists of a network of young people (mostly men) from different youth organizations. The network was formed in 2014 to lead the HeForShe campaign initiative targeting young people especially men to address gender-based violence through advocacy and campaigns. The idea is to increase young men’s active participation in response to Gender Based Violence based on evidence that most perpetrators of gender based violence are men and boys and most victims are women and girls.

This week, we are training Multi-Disciplinary Facilitation Teams (MDFTs) in CRR and URR under our Gender Transformative Approaches (GTA) project in partnership with Women in Liberation and Leadership - WILL with support from UNICEF Gambia.
These are not just trainings for us. We are equipping facilitators to lead critical conversations on masculinity, power, and gender norms within their communities.
This is how change begins not in theory, but in communities and it starts with the courage to have uncomfortable conversations.

We are proud to mark the successful conclusion of our Gender Transformative Approaches (GTA) Master Trainer Programme, which brought together team members from Men for Equality, Women in Liberation and Leadership - WILL alongside other Civil Society Organizations committed to advancing gender equality.
The 4 day training strengthened participants’ capacity to challenge harmful gender norms and design programs that promote meaningful and lasting change in our communities.
We thank UNICEF Gambia for their support and WILL for their partnership in making this initiative possible.
At Men for Equality, we remain committed to advancing gender equality and engaging men and boys as partners in building a more just and inclusive society.
Voices of Fathers for Change.
In this reflection, a member of the Men for Equality Fathers Club in LRR speaks on the real impacts of child marriage, FGM, and sexual and gender-based violence, not just on girls and women, but on families and entire communities.
We established this Father's Club to create a platform for men to stand up, speak out, and take responsibility in promoting equality, protecting girls, and ending harmful practices. When men lead by example, change becomes possible.

This week, in Kolior and Toranka Banta communities in the Lower River Region (LRR), we have officially established Grandmothers’ and Grandfathers’ Clubs in partnership with our amazing sister organization, Women in Liberation and Leadership - WILL with support from UNICEF Gambia.
These clubs recognize elders as respected custodians of culture and powerful agents of change who influence family decisions, protect children, and promote positive gender and social norms. By engaging both grandmothers and grandfathers, the initiative will strengthen intergenerational dialogue and advances gender equality through community-led action.
When elders lead, communities thrive.
