🌟 A wonderful day celebrating our amazing L3 students! 🎓

Today we had the privilege of attending the closing ceremonies at Mariama Mae Nursery School and Sheikh Hatab Memorial Nursery School. Congratulations to all the children as they begin an exciting new chapter in primary school—we wish you every success for the future!

Our Bouworde vzw volunteers helped make the day extra special by donating 300 cakes, made by the women’s baking group at Sheikh Hatab, along with juice for the children at both schools.

We were especially proud to hear the children confidently delivering speeches about plastic pollution and recycling, demonstrating just how much they have learned through our Plastic Waste Education Programme and the use of their new recycling wheelie bins.

The Bouworde team also presented the latest edition of Growing Strong in Gunjur at Mariama Mae Nursery School. Developed by Gunjur Project Association as part of the RedCentros Project, funded by the European Union through the Interreg MAC Programme, the book has been created in partnership with Gesplan - Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental, S.A., Dandeng Kulledeng - The Gambia Wildlife Foundation Precious Plastic Gambia Gunjur Conservationists & Ecotourism Association Gambia to inspire the next generation of environmental champions.

Mariama Mae is also leading the way in inclusive education through its partnership with Disability Africa, and we’re proud that the new book includes a dedicated page celebrating inclusion and ensuring every child feels valued.

A huge thank you to our Bouworde volunteers for funding the printing of these books and continuing to support education and environmental awareness in Gunjur. 💚🌍♻️
