▶️ 6 Fun Projects for Returning DJs (Pick One and Run With It)

If you're recently back behind the decks, the skills are coming back and the gear feels familiar again - you may be wondering: what do I actually do with this?

This is the final lesson in our seven-part series for returning DJs, and in it I walk you through six fun projects you can sink your teeth into now you're properly back in the game. From making mixtapes the modern way, to livestreaming, to producing your own tracks, to chasing paid gigs (yes, even now), there's something here whatever kind of returning DJ you are.

Pick one. Run with it. See where it takes you.

Let us know in the comments if this inspires you to take action!

A No-Nonsense Guide to Digital Music For Old School DJs. Part three of our new free video series on returning to DJing.

If you've been away from DJing for a while, the music side of things has changed beyond all recognition: gone are the record boxes, the record shops, the CD wallets and the burned discs. Now it's digital files, online stores, streaming services and metadata. It's enough to put anyone off before they've even started.

So in this video we strip it all back and make it simple. The goal isn't a 10TB archive of every tune you've ever loved, it's your first virtual record crate: around 60 songs, an hour or so of music, enough to get you mixing again.

I walk you through seven golden rules for building that collection mindfully, from buying songs rather than albums to sorting your metadata and backing everything up properly.

Then I answer the questions we get asked most at the school, including where to actually buy music today, whether you need any extra software, and why streaming services aren't the shortcut they look like.
