Project Share is a non-governmental organisation registered in Ghana and active in the Gushegu district of the Northern Region. Project Share aspires to function as a catalyst to transform the lives of the people of Gushegu district. Through a holistic and sustainable approach, Project Share seeks to empower people to improve their living conditions themselves, through education and training, and
through encouraging them to share their knowledge with others. The work is focused around three areas - health, agriculture, and education. Our main projects at the moment are Neesim Primary School and Neesim Nutrition Centre. Neesim Primary School was set up in 2009 to serve three villages without a school, and to act as an example to other schools in the district. We aim to provide high quality education at minimal cost, with a strong focus on literacy and learning foundational skills through play using the local language. Neesim Nutrition Centre was also set up in 2009 to rehabilitate malnourished children alongside educating their mothers on healthy nutrition, empowering them to pass on what they have learned to their communities once they return home. 35% of children under five in Gushegu district are malnourished, primarily due to a lack of knowledge of when to begin weaning children and how to provide a balanced diet. Through the nutrition centre and community outreach we hope to gradually reduce the prevalence of malnutrition.
