JESUS CHRIST, THE LIVING STONE

1 Peter 2:4 NIV
[4] As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him—

Architects, building contractors, and masons understand the importance of stones in building. The strength of the building largely depends on the quality of the stones that you use in mixing the concrete and laying the foundation. The term "cornerstone" is used to mean the most important element, the prominent person, or the head of a group. Jesus is the living stone of our very lives, the cornerstone of our being. You can't reject Jesus and be whole, fulfilled, or happy.

All believers are living stones just like Jesus. We are being built into a worship house for God, with ourselves being the priests consecrated to offer spiritual sacrifices to God, and Jesus Christ the cornerstone, being the Great High Priest of this living sanctuary. It is God's pleasure to inhabit believers individually, and inhabit all believers together as his living sanctuary. When we gather together for worship, he is present in our midst, enjoying our worship and showering his graces upon us. We must show him our utmost reverence in his presence.

Human beings rejected the living stone and lost the divine opportunity given them to be part of his living sanctuary. They stumbled upon the living stone and fell. The stone was sent to be a rock of defence to them, however, for rejecting him, the stone will fall on them and crush them. Sadly, they'll die in their unbelief and be eternally separated from God. You, however, have been chosen and consecrated to be a priest offering living sacrifices to God. Isn't this an act of grace? Go in the spirit of God's grace and offer your body as a living sacrifice to the Lord, holy and acceptable to him.

The living stone is my rock of defence. In him, I cannot be crushed. In him, I'm eternally saved. Glory to God! Amen!

POSSESS MORE OF THE ENDURING WORD

1 Peter 1:24-25 NIV
[24] For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, [25] but the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word that was preached to you.

God's word is full of life. It is the giver of life. It is living and actively changing lives and society. Your new life in Christ was made from the word of God which is enduring. Enduring means lasting and unchanging. Truly, you're a spiritual being and cannot completely die just as the word from which you were made cannot die. As for your physical body, it is like grass, and all your material possessions and comeliness are like flowers; the grass dries up and the flowers fall to the ground and die. Your spirit, which was made from the enduring word, lives forever.

Since you're born of the word of God, and are a spiritual being, you must depend on the word for food and on the Spirit for water in order to continue living. If you cease to feed, you lose energy and weight. Similarly, if you fail to eat the word and drink the Spirit, you forfeit the vigour and ability to live the spiritual life. The word of God is your energy booster in the spirit. It is the mirror through which you see and recognise what you look like spiritually. The more you look into this mirror, the more you realise that you look like Christ. This Christ consciousness influences you to live like him.

The word of God is full of the Spirit and it gives life. Jesus said in John 6:63, "The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life." If you want more of the Spirit and his living expressions, desire and possess more of the word. God's word is perfect and immutable. Whatever it says is true and relevant for all time. Mark 13:31 says, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away." They that trust God's word see fulfilment in life.

The word is my food. The Spirit is my drink. I live by the word and the Spirit. Praise to the living God. Amen!

EXPRESSING SINCERE AND DEEP LOVE

1 Peter 1:22 NIV
[22] Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.

The word of God is referred to in the Bible as the truth, meaning, it is perfectly true, and the sole determinant of what is true about God, the universe, and spiritual life. As part of his last conversation with Pontius Pilate, Jesus said to him, “In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me." (Joh 18:37) He also concluded that God's word is the truth through his High Priestly prayer in John 17:17, "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth." God gave birth to you spiritually by his word of truth (Jas 1:18).

You received the word of truth in your heart and obeyed the truth by declaring your faith in Jesus, so your heart has been purified and rendered sincere. The love of Christ has been poured overflowingly into the depths of your heart. This is a pure and sincere love belonging to God, therefore, it is divine and called "agape". Agape is sacrificial, unconditional and persistent. In God's beloved family, it is this agape love that we express to one another just as Christ expressed his to each of us.

In your dealings with one another in God's beloved family, everything must proceed from agape. This is because, agape is sincere, unselfish, and never gets finished. Agape has become a fountain in your heart, so deep and overflowing. This was made possible in you through the Spirit, who also moves you to show it to whom he directs you. Since it reaches to the farthest end of your heart, whenever it gushes forth, it shows as sincere and deep. Only this kind of deep love will change lives and reshape society into the kind that God will be happy with.

My love is sincere and deep, changing lives and restoring hopes, as influenced by the Spirit. Amen!

KEY VERITY
In your dealings with one another in God's family, everything must proceed from agape.

PILGRIM'S REVERENCE

1 Peter 1:17 NIV
[17] Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

Child of God, remember that you call on and relate with a Father who is the world's Judge. His judgment is impartial and goes for every person, including his own children. Your relationship with Jehovah is properly that of Father-son not God-creator only. Unbelievers are not born-again, so their relationship to Jehovah is the God-creator kind. What makes a father-son relationship succulent is the son's reverent fear for the father. God, your Father and Judge, deserves your reverent fear as his holy lover.

Your Father’s holiness has made you holy. You were born from heaven, and that's where you have your true citizenship. Though you live and do your service to God and men in the world, you're not of the world, just like Jesus. He declared in John 8:23, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world." Jesus is your holy brother of the same heavenly Father. While you're in this world, pass your life in the world as a pilgrim, that is, a foreigner, a stranger, or a sojourner. Don't dabble in the ungodly enterprises in which the ungodly citizens of this world are engrossed (Psa 1:1-3).

Yours is a holy service to God and mankind, carried out in reverent fear, so much that when people see you, they tend to think that you're afraid of God, however, truly, you're not afraid of God but you respect, cherish and honour your Father with your whole life. A pilgrim is preoccupied with going back home soon. The discomfort from where he's sojourning gives him constant visions and dreams of being with his family. Your reverent fear for your Father as a pilgrim in this world must make you holily angry at the mockings of your Father by the ungodly people.

CONFESS WITH ME:
I'm a pilgrim in this world. I am in this world to glorify God, my Father, and Jesus Christ, my Lord. Amen!

KEY VERITY
Let your reverent fear shine as light in this world so that the ungodly people will see it and acknowledge the purity of your Father.

PURE BREED

1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV
[15] But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; [16] for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

God is the Father of the Christ generation—that generation to whom Christ has been revealed with clarity, who have received him in their hearts, enjoy his fellowship, and share in his nature and power. Holiness is our Father's intrinsic nature, with which he has given birth to us. Our Father is holy, therefore, we are holy. It is also true to say that we are holy because our Father is holy. Our holiness does not derive from the good deeds that we perform but from the nature of our Father with which we have been born.

You shouldn't see yourself as different from your Father in terms of holiness, or else, you'll strive to achieve holiness by your own strength. Through meditation, consider that God has made you holy, and he expects you to walk as his holy lover. Holiness means separation from the world. The world as used in the Bible refers to anything or any person that is ungodly, or opposed to the will and decrees of God. Undoubtedly, ungodly people and the ungodly things that they do, are influenced by the leader of the ungodly and evil spirits—Satan or the devil.

Holiness also means purity, cleanliness, or sanctification. Spiritual purity is a result of salvation. Once, you were dead to sin, but God gave you a new life, which is sinless, pure, and full of vitality. You have been separated from sin to live a sanctimonious life in appreciation of God's grace by which you were saved. Purity, therefore, is your current spiritual state as a born-again Christian. You have to maintain your purity by staying away from everything that contaminates, spirit, soul, and body, such as po*******hy, ungodly music, and sexual immorality. The Christ generation is also a pure generation or a pure breed.

I express my nature of holiness by staying away from everything that contaminates, spirit, soul, and body. Amen!
