Yesterday marked a proud milestone for Adanu and the people of Mafi Seva in the Central Tongu District as the newly completed 3-unit classroom block with office and store at Mafi Seva D/A Basic School was officially commissioned.

The project, which began last year after nearly two years of fundraising, brought together community members, local authorities, education representatives, and partners to celebrate what collective effort can achieve. In his address, Headmaster Mr. Richard Agordo described the facility as more than just walls and desks, β€œπ’Šπ’• π’Šπ’” 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 π’π’‘π’†π’π’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 π’π’‘π’‘π’π’“π’•π’–π’π’Šπ’•π’Šπ’†π’”, π’Šπ’π’π’π’—π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂 π’ƒπ’“π’Šπ’ˆπ’‰π’•π’†π’“ 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔.” He expressed gratitude for Adanu’s continued partnership since 2019, highlighting earlier interventions including the school’s library, laptops, WASH facilities, and now this classroom block.

Community leaders and dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Hon. Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze, commended the strong collaboration between partners and residents. The MP reaffirmed his commitment to education in the district and announced a new competitive examination initiative aimed at encouraging academic excellence among students.

Constructed with the generous support of Shelly Morse, Sharon Andrews & Family, the Mosaic Company, Friends of Adanu, Hon. Hottordze, and all our continued donors, the new facility provides a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils while strengthening the foundation for long-term educational growth in the area.

This milestone reflects what is possible when communities, partners, and supporters work together to invest in children’s futures.

We began the year not with words, but with impact.

At Dzremave D/A Basic School, Adanu officially handed over a menstrual changing room, the first of its kind in the community, built to give girls comfort, privacy, and dignity. A space that ensures no girl has to choose between her body and her education.

This milestone was made possible through the partnership of Michigan State University's MPH students and faculty and the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers from Ghana, working alongside Adanu and the community. To every donor and supporter: thank you for believing in dignity-driven development.

The joy of the community was a reminder of why we do this work. As we step into the new year, our vision remains clear: to deepen partnerships, center human dignity, and leave no one behind.

Happy New Year from all of us at Adanu.
