Today we welcome two new web developers to the AgroCenta family. Ummi Hajaratu Siba and Gifty Adams are both straight out of school and very passionate about building a career in software development. We hope to help shape the first stages of your career.
Access to information such as market prices, weather information and other critical agricultural info remains a big challenge to rural smallholder farmers, especially women farmers. With the ever increasing misinformation at the community level, smallholder farmers are at a risk of adopting harmful agricultural practices.
That is why AgroCenta has built a Voice Service Platform that transmits verified and accurate agricultural information to rural smallholder farmers such as Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Tips, Weather information, market prices and other agricultural information that is beneficial to these smallholder farmers.
The Sentinel platform works using voice blast mechanism where all a smallholder farmer needs is a basic feature phone with mobile connectivity. Farmers will receive regular updates and specified time intervals in local languages they understand.
So far, AgroCenta has served over 30,000 women in the Shea Value chain with information on market prices, parkland management and other needed information under the Shea Business Empowerment Program in Northern Ghana in partnership with Global Shea Alliance and Mastercard Foundation
