A significant price disparity has emerged between Ghana and Ivory Coast, with Ghanaian cocoa farmers earning more than double the rate offered to their Ivorian counterparts. Following President Mahama's 2026 State of the Nation Address, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga highlighted a substantial difference in farmer earnings between the two countries. According to Ayariga, Ghanaian farmers now earn more than twice the price offered in Ivory Coast. The breakdown is as follows (per 64kg bag): Ghana - GH₵ 2,587, Ivory Coast - GH₵ 980 to GH₵ 1,225 (CFA equivalent). Ayariga attributes these figures to the government's commitment to competitive pricing and protection of the cocoa sector, citing recent reports that show the Ivorian mid-crop rate starting March 1 is significantly lower than Ghana's current payout.
