International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) 2025

The International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) is celebrated annually on November 7th to honor the vital contributions of medical physicists to healthcare and patient well-being. The date also commemorates the birthday of Marie Curie, a pioneer whose groundbreaking work laid the foundation for modern medical physics.

This special day recognizes the efforts of medical physicists worldwide in advancing healthcare through research, innovation, education, and clinical practice—contributions that continue to enhance the quality and safety of patient care.

As part of this year’s celebration, Prof. Stephen Inkoom has been acknowledged among the distinguished awardees for his outstanding leadership and remarkable contributions to the growth and development of medical physics, particularly in the areas of medical imaging, radiation protection, and professional training in Ghana and across the African region.

The celebration serves as a reminder of the crucial role medical physicists play in improving patient outcomes and ensuring the safe and effective use of radiation in medicine.
