IITA BBEST Project
Known for its economic and environmental benefits, the Black Soldier Fly is an insect which during its larval stage voraciously feed on organic waste to produce: dried larvae used in animal feed production and frass used in vegetable production.
Have you watched the IITA BBEST Project on Channel one TV?
you are invited to watch the interview here on Facebook and on all our social media platform IITA BBEST Project.
During this one on one on Breakfast Daily, Dr Agbodzavu, the IITA BBEST Project manager said the BSF larvae is an alternative protein for animal feeding.
Dr Saethre explained that the frass is a potent organic fertilizer for vegetable production.
Dr Ofori added that the frass enriches the soil and gives it additional nutrient and improves the moisture content of the soil.
The production of the BSF larvae and frass represent an employment opportunity for farmers.
