For almost every kid aboard, it was their first time venturing out onto Lake Michigan. New waves. New perspectives. New confidence.

Captain Alex believed that the moment you sail beyond the shoreline, your world gets a little bigger. 24 young adventurers proved him right.

A huge thank you to KenoshaYachtClub for hosting the event and the eight volunteer boats who donated their time, their vessels, and their passion. Because of you, a new generation discovered that adventure isn’t something you watch. It’s something you live.

Here’s to bigger horizons. 🌊

Some people spend their lives avoiding strangers.
Captain Alex spent his life embracing them.

Every unfamiliar face was an invitation. Every village was worth wandering into. Every “yes” led to another story that couldn’t have existed if he’d stayed comfortable.

Turns out the best adventures rarely begin with a plan.

Yesterday would have been Alex’s 42nd birthday.

Alex always found a reason to celebrate. Being around him felt like it was always someone’s birthday! After he passed, many of us continued celebrating his birthday and his life. Some years, we probably celebrated a little too hard in an effort to honor his drive for living life to the fullest. Today, we have so much more to celebrate in honor of Alex.

🫧And most importantly, more kids than ever are being impacted by the legacy he left behind.

Over the past year, together we have:

🫧Impacted more than 100 kids through six sailing and adventure programs

🫧Hosted 12 events including regattas, raft-ups, and screenings across 10 locations and 5 countries

🫧Expanded our partnership with the Boys & Girls Club to bring sailing and adventure to more young people

🫧Connected hundreds of sailors through regattas, youth programs, and community events inspired by Alex’s spirit of adventure

What started as one young man chasing a dream around the world has grown into a movement that encourages others to dream bigger, take chances, and live boldly. I think Alex would get a kick out of that.
