Out of curiosity we tried out a friction welding experiment.

We took two pieces of 12mm mild steel round bar.
One piece was clamped in the tail stock the other was held in the lathe chuck.

The lathe was dialed in to 2000rpmand the two piece were slowly and lightly introduced to each other until they reached a heat conducive to fusion. Once pressed together and fused the lathe was shutdown.

We then conducted the bend test.

We also unsuccessfully tried aluminium and bzp bolts.

Having seen one of our other pieces in .press we we're asked by a customer to design and make a minimal, two tiered, organic looking coffee table.
Powdercoated satin black.
We and the customer are delighted at how this turned out.

We've been putting the final touches to this 'beauty'.
This is our Killa Kan based on the ork fighting machine from It stands just over 7ft tall. This has been a really fun project to work on. #ᴡᴀʀʜᴀᴍᴍᴇʀᴄᴏᴍᴍᴜɴɪᴛʏ
