Here at SMR Garage our Vehicle Technicians/Mechanics are a key role within our operation ensuring customer satisfaction in the service and repair of motor vehicles of all types.

We’re looking for Skilled technicians/mechanics with great experience. MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous but not essential. Must be a team player and comfortable dealing with customers face to face and on the phone.

Salary is negotiable dependent upon experience and there is an extremely attractive bonus package too. We are open Monday to Fridays so there is no requirement to work weekends and you will receive 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

SMR Garage is an independently owned garage based in Tockwith ideally placed between Wetherby & York. We carry out Servicing, MOT’s and Repairs on all classes of vehicle for business and private customers. We are a Class 4 & 7 approved MOT testing Centre and pride ourselves on providing an honest and friendly service to our customers and are committed to delivering great workmanship.

New rules on MOT testing for light vehicles
Due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation, cars, vans and motorcycles due their MOT from 30 March 2020 will have their MOT extended by 6 months.

This will continue until confirmed otherwise.

This will allow vehicle owners to continue to be able to get to work where this absolutely cannot be done from home or do essential shopping.

It is important to note however that vehicle’s must be kept in a roadworthy condition and drivers will be prosecuted if they drive an unsafe vehicle.

The government has extended the requirement for certain businesses to close, but garages are essential and must stay open.

This is to make sure that essential vehicle maintenance and repair to keep vehicles, goods and key workers moving and safe can continue.
