This week's Nifty Nature Nugget:
The best thing you can do for wildlife at the moment is to make sure you put out drinking water. Most baby birds get what they need from the food their parents bring but adult birds and mammals need it. Even bees and butterflies like a puddle of water and bees take water back to their hives. Just a shallow bowl will do, or a bird bath. Make sure you keep the bowls clean. You could even make a small pond with a washing up bowl but make sure there are stones or plants at the edge so the critters can climb out.
Summer doesn't have to be expensive. There is so much to inspire children in nature. And there are lots of beautiful nature spots right on your doorstep. You're welcome to visit ours. We invite you to participate in our exciting and varied programme of summer activities right here at Wildside. There are activities for all ages: adults and children. See www.wildsideac.co.uk for further details. Join our mailing list to stay updated (scroll to bottom of website to subscribe). Wednesday look forward to seeing you soon.

Stories are not just for bedtime. It's very relaxing to take time out to read in the woods on the edge of all the busy activity that the other Little Explorers are getting involved in. Each to their own - there's something for all tastes here at Forest School.

Super hero nature crafts was one of the themes at Littel Explorers' Forest School today. Fantastic work, kids!
"My super hero is flying through the forest to put an end to all the evil that lurks in the undergrowth, threatening to uproot the beautiful habitat!"
They also had a good at drilling today to create the holes at the base of the super hero bodies. String was then passed through the hole and pasta or beads threaded onto the string to create the legs. And I really love the leaf capes. After all, no super hero is complete without a cape!
